Udhampur, December 15, 2013 Civil Defence functionaries to work with missionary zeal: DIG

A meeting of the newly constituted Civil Defence (CD) was held at Katra under the chairmanship of Jammu civil defence, home guards and SDRF deputy inspector general of police (DIG) AK Atri. While speaking on the occasion, DIG Atri congratulated the people of the area, particularly the
office bearers of the Civil Defence for having the new setup. He detailed the role of the CD in the event of any disaster and stressed upon its functionaries to work with missionary zeal during the disasters as well as peace as its sole aim was "nish kaam seva". The DIG further said that measures were being taken to complete the setup at the earliest. He assured the Reasi civil defence unit (CDU) that the demands put forth by the office bearers would be projected before the authorities concerned for their early fulfilment. He further said that special attention would be paid towards Reasi district owing to its religious and historical importance. Earlier, Udhampur-Reasi CD deputy controller Bodh Raj said, "Keeping in view the importance of holy town Katra, civil defence awareness is necessary among the people of all sections of the society so that in case of any natural or man-made calamity, service could be provided to the affected people.
