ALL INDIA CIVIL DEFENCE ANNUAL DAY OBSERVED AT TALCHER TALCHER: Civil Defence, a voluntary organization intended to protect the civil population against the danger and to support them recover from immediate effect of hospitality of natural disasters and also to provide conditions necessary for survival . The main objectives of this organization are to save life, minimize damage to property,maintain continuity of production and boost the morale of people during hostilities. It is organized as an integral part of the defence of our country. A limited nos of Civil Defence units are in Odisha, situated at Rourkela, Talcher , Paradip, and Koraput. At Talcher,, Civil Defence Organisation started its function from the year 1983 with a minimum nos of volunteers, but now, the nos are go upto 1513. On this day, 6th December, Civil Defence Annual Day has been celebrating by its volunteers with the help of Sub- Divisional administration each year to show their efforts in parade, disaster management and rescue operation. Today, District Magistrate and Collector, Angul, Ranjit Kumar Mohanty joined as Chief Guest in this function, after unfurling of National Flag, he visited and accepted the salutation of the parade by the volunteers and N.C.C. cadets from Talcher College, Yubaraj High School, Talcher Mahila Mahavidyalaya and D.A. V. Ananta Vihar . By addressing the volunteers, he said, each volunteer should keep his eye and mind towards service to persons at the time of their need and people, those are helpless and want to get some benefit from administration, in this case the civil Defence volunteers come forward to help without any hesitation by which, all the blessings of unseen forces got on and it will distribute power and energy to do more good work for needy people of the society. Sub-Collector and Dy. Controller of Civil Defence, Talcher Unit Saroj Samal read out the messages from Honorable Governor of Odisha and Additional D.G. of Home Guards N.Nageswar Rao and briefly described the role and duties of the Civil Defence volunteers of Talcher unit at the time of PHAILIN cyclones occurred near past. The prizes and certificates of merit were distributed by the chief guest to the winners of different events organized before by the local administration. Among others, Journalists, Advocates, Senior citizens,Teachers,Students, Officers and staffs of local administration were present.
