MUSCAT — The Sultanate represented by the Public Authority for Civil Defence (PACD) and Ambulance observed the World Civil Defence Day, yesterday. The member states of the International Civil Defence Organisation (ICDO) mark the occasion this year under the slogan ‘Civil Defence and Culture of Prevention for a Safer Society’. The Public Authority for Civil Defence (PACD) is endeavouring to upgrade its electronic system through introducing several systems such as the Incident Management System (IMS) which is operated by the geographical information system which pinpoints the locations of the reports received by the PACD operations centre. In the field of ambulance, a number of high-quality vehicles have been launched recently. The PACD training department carried out training courses and programmes and workshops during the course of last year such as the First Respondent medical programme for civil defence officers and personnel and firefighters to leverage their skills and knowledge.
