Palakkad {Kerala}::::: Civil Defence Basic training programme inaugurated at Palakkad {Kerala}

TNN | Jul 22, 2013, 04.56 PM IST The Civil Defence Basic training programme for railway employees was inaugurated by Mohan A Menon, additional divisional railway manager, Palakkad in Multi Disciplinary Training Centre at Palakkad on Monday. Nearly 80 railway employees all over from Southern Railway are participating in the weeklong training programme. Civil Defence is voluntary organization by civilians, government, local bodies, voluntary Agencies etc. to minimise the effects of enemy action on men and material during war. However, this jurisdiction is further extended to render assistance during natural calamities and man made disasters. Many time railways have to face natural calamities and manmade disasters especially during flood and terrorism activities. At that time, services of this Civil Defence organization is utilised by railways. Menon narrated the origin and the activities of Civil Defence orgnisation. R Murali, Assistant Deputy General Manager and Deputy Controller of Southern Railway Civil Defence Organization briefed the activities of Civil Defence organisation in Southern Railway. C C Joy, Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer, N Govindan, senior Divisional Personnel Officer spoke on the occasion.
