MAYOR LINGAPPA HAILS HOME GUARDS
Mysuru, Dec. 28- “Home Guards, who are assisting Police in maintenance of law and order, traffic management and other vital matters, rightly deserve to be lauded and given encouragement from the government for their selfless services,” opined Mayor R. Lingappa.
Speaking after inaugurating All-India Home Guards Day celebrations organised by District Home Guards at the Fire Brigade Parade grounds in Saraswathipuram here yesterday, the Mayor rued that selfless services of Home Guards have not been reciprocated properly and urged the government to come forward to help them by offering better emoluments and benefits.
Felicitation: Home Guards Srinivasagowda, Muniraju, Muthurayaswamy, M.S. Diddaraju, Subramani, Ramakrishna, Srinivasa Rao, Ravindra, Nagendra, Rajagopal and Rajashekar were felicitated on the occasion. Shivaranjini, the lady Home Guard who had returned a bag containing Rs. 5 lakh cash to a vehicle driver who had lost it, was feted.
Earlier, DC C. Shikha took the salute at a parade by various contingents of Home Guards.
District Home Guards Commandant Dr. P. Madesh, Deputy Commandant N. Venkatesh, Assistant Administrator Balaramegowda and others were present.
Mysore ::SCOUTS AND GUIDES TAKE OUT MARCH
Mysuru, Dec. 28- As part of the 5-day State-level Scouts and Guides Open Rally-2014 organised by Bharat Scouts and Guides District Institute, Mysuru, Adventure Sports events were held for the participants at the Scouts and Guides ground near Deputy Commissioner’s office here this morning.
Over 300 Scouts and Guides from 12 districts are participating in the event comprising net crawling, tyre tunnel crawling, walking on a swing, commando bridge, rope climbing and ladder climbing.
Speaking on the occasion, Scouts and Guides District Organiser Ashok Kumar said that such adventure activities helped youth to build confidence and leadership qualities.
The event was inaugurated by District Physical Education Officer Mariyappa. DDPI H.R. Basappa and others were present on the occasion.
Earlier, the participating Scouts and Guides took out a march-past from the Grounds through Metropole Circle and MUDA Circle. The march-past, which was flagged off by ACP B.T. Kavita, culminated at the starting point.
The rally will conclude on Dec. 31.
An expo of features of various districts was also organised at the ground.
